Nuremberg, 10th. November 2011 – TRW is one of the leading international suppliers in the automotive industry, with more than 60,000 employees at 185 locations across the world. At its site in Alfdorf, the OSS (occupant safety systems) division of TRW operates an airbag and crash laboratory and relies on Peak Solution, the measurement data management specialist from Nuremberg, to manage and plan the required resources for their complex test scenarios.
The development of safety systems is connected with a large number of trials and complex tests. For this purpose, the test managers at TRW use various test bays in which all the necessary test resources, such as dummies, measuring equipment, cameras, test specimens and test personnel need to be available for the planned test dates.
The Peak Resource Planer provides a complete overview of the availability of these test resources and thus helps to avoid multiple assignments. Thanks to this software, test managers can now accurately determine what test resources they require for the implementation of specific tests. As soon as a test date is scheduled, the system marks all test resources involved in the test as occupied. Separate availability calendars are maintained for the different types of test resources. This way, all test engineers involved have a facility-wide overview of whether the required test resources are available as early as in the planning phase. In addition, the Peak Resource Planner actively points out any possible conflicts during the allocation of test resources in the planning phase. Thanks to a skill matrix for example, all employee qualifications required for the operation of certain test facilities are compared with the qualification profiles of the employees designated for this purpose.
Currently, TRW OSS is planning to connect Peak Resource Planner to its central SAP system and to also deploy the solution at other international locations of the company. Due to its multi-language capabilities (German, English, Chinese), the Peak Resource Planner is optimally equipped for international deployment within the corporation.
